Hotel Review: Loi Suites Iguazú (Argentina)

This is a staycation. As much as a relaxed vacation is needed, it requires plentiful research beforehand. Loi Suites Iguazú is one of the natural-setting-themed hotels highly ranked on Booking.com, TripAdvisor and Trivago. But the perks of living around the city, don’t allow us to simply go ahead with the booking icon. My friends and I decided to take a day knocking on the door of all those top-10 hotels before settling with the “verified reviews”. As a result, Loi Suites Iguazú is one of the few that Booking.com’s images do the justice to. It was love at first sight.

Puerto Iguazú offers many kinds of accommodations. You’ve got the laid-back jungle lodge hotels on one hand, and you’ve got those economically friendly hotels to premium, luxurious resorts and spas on the other hand. Loi Suites Iguazú is everything in between them. It offers 5-star facilities and decor at a reasonable price if paid in blue dollars.

Firstly, getting to the hotel is not as easy as Google map shows it to be. The hotel sits in the middle of the jungle. After veering off the main road, you will get onto a short dirt track followed by newly paved road. Yet, if you come late at night, the absence of streetlights creates 10 minutes of road driving adventure to the mystic hotel. Cabbing is the only option, unless you are driving a car. It takes approximately 25 minutes to reach from the airport as well as to the Cataratas del Iguazú (Iguazú Waterfalls); 15 minutes from the bus terminal and downtown area.

The room I stayed in was a Studio Triple (298 USD, 21% VAT included), but there are many types of rooms offered such as, the Junior Studio, the Superior Double Room, the Double Suite and the Villa. The room is well furnished featuring a modern French window overlooking the subtropical forest (which unfortunately cannot be seen from the picture). For some two digits Dollars more, a balcony is offered instead. With a 57sqm Villa, you get a goddess open air jacuzzi! But I was happy with my indoor bathtub too.

The price which you have to fork out at this place comes with a continental breakfast. Besides of serving the basics (bread, croissants, omelet, ham and cheese, yoghurt, and tropical fruits) and the national breakfast (mate, pepas, alfajores de maicena), the local indigenous food (chipas, reviro, mbejú) is out for you to try as well! The outdoor swimming pool is the hotel’s main attraction, I would say. The hotel also counts a playground, game room, fitness center and other facilities. It is designed to welcome all kinds of travelers: solo travelers, couples, friends and family.

Unfortunately, with my one-night stay, I didn’t have enough time to visit all the facilities, such as the in house restaurants, paid spa and massages. However, with my experience at the hotel so far…

My verdict? 10/10 stars!
